About
Welcome to The Lobster Pot - The Quay, a hidden gem nestled along the vibrant waterfront of Barmouth, United Kingdom. This charming eatery offers an unparalleled dining experience, blending splendid views of the estuary and harbour with an inviting, casual atmosphere. Whether you choose to indulge indoors or soak up the sun outside, you are in for a treat.
The menu at The Lobster Pot features a delightful array of dishes, prominently showcasing fresh seafood. Diners rave about the generous portions, as highlighted by Emma Woodcock, who praised the mackerel salad—big enough to share. For seafood lovers, the dressed crab and mussels with fries promise a celebration of flavors that are distinctly local.
Aside from seafood, the café also caters to every palate with options like homemade bolognese and hearty jacket potatoes topped with everything from cheese to chilli con carne. Each dish reflects the café's commitment to fresh, quality ingredients without breaking the bank, as observed by Katherine Riches noting exceptional value for money.
Let’s not forget the beverages! Unwind with a refreshing bottled lager or cider, or treat yourself to a glass of Prosecco while you watch the world go by. And if you're in the mood for something local, the Aber Falls Welsh Gin & Tonic offers a taste of the region’s best.
While the indoor seating is limited, the outdoor space is expansive, providing a picturesque setting for your meal. Be mindful of the seagulls, as Jo amusingly cautions, but the thrill of dining al fresco with stunning views of the Cadair Idris mountains makes it all worthwhile. Fast service, mentioned by many patrons, helps you enjoy your meal more than ever, even during the busiest of days.
In summary, The Lobster Pot - The Quay is not just another seaside café—it's an experience that marries stunning natural beauty with delightful cuisine. Whether you're celebrating a birthday or just enjoying a sunny day by the sea, you're guaranteed a meal that's fresh, filling, and fabulously satisfying. I cannot wait to return for another round of their renowned seafood dishes!
“ went there twice in just a few days, the young staff were brilliant super polite. Luke delivered our food super quickly with a smile (even on a busking hot day) They do takeouts as well. i wasn't expecting much from a seaside cafe, however i was surprised, Fresh seafoods and opted for mackerel salad (very generous size - could have shared between two) friend had dressed crab, and the other mussels and fries - lovely outdoor and indoor seating, great location and simple fresh food menu. ”
“ Lovely views of the estuary and harbour. Food is fresh and very good value for money ”
“ Fab little cafe in the bay, seating inside is limited but there is plenty of outside seating too (beware of the seagulls though..... I've experienced them swoop like in other seaside towns; Scarborough worse I've seen ). We were there on a busy Easter weekend, service was prompt & efficient. Good selection of foods too, not just seafood - although that's exactly why I like it here . Food was lovely, fresh & tasty. ”
“ A lovely little restaurant, sat on the harbour and over looking the stunning mountains of the Cadair Idris. Absolutely fantastic to sit outside, when the sun is shining too. ”
“ Large portions, we ordered a starter and main. Couldn't eat it all. Food was delicious. We has prawn and crab stack, dressed crab and salt and pepper squid and mussels. Great way to celebrate a birthday. Will definitely be back. ”
“ Love this place, great food and helpful staff. Food is delicious be it breakfast or lunch. Dogs welcome inside or out. Lovely views from the outside seating across the estuary. ”
“ We decided to stop for lunch at this unassuming place. The food was excellent, and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and efficient. My wife had seafood linguine, I had seafood chowder, both absolutely delicious. ”
“ Food was really good. Might not be the lowest price in town but it was totally worthy. I liked the sea view from the window too. ”
